Do you know that every time you dance, you are doing math?

This article was very intresting just because I would I had never thought math and dancing had anything in comin considering that the only math is the counts 5,6,7,8 and 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8.I dont like enjoy math but I love dancing and have done it all my life. But I guess math is in everything we do everyday of our life.

The article about how math and dancing are related was very enlightening. I never really realized when we do dance we are making shapes and even counting in our heads. People always say we do not use math everyday and that there is no purpose for math. This article helped me realize even more how we do use math everyday without even noticing.

It is truly incredible how math and dancing can be related. This is just to show that math is actually everywhere. I didn’t believe at first but then I thought about it and it all made sense to me. For example, I can see that when learning how to dance salsa, meringue, bachata, samba and all the other dances you are always taught the counting first and the basic steps with the numbers. Also, the music notes are related to numbers that is how they are able to make beats. It’s incredible!!!

This article to me was very interesting. I have danced for 8 years so this article caught my attention. Math by dancing seems very interesting and I personally would love to try learning math this way. This shows that math is really used in our everyday life. I didnt think so and always asked myself is math really used everyday like most of my teachers have told me. But not this article has opened my eyes to see that math is involved in one of my favorite things to do.

Many times students believe after school, they will no longer use math. However this article has showed us one more time that math stays with us no matter if we want it or not. This article emphasize how we use math even on the music rhythm, which involve patterns and patterns involve mathematic ,in the same token which involve me in the soccer field.

It is really incredible how this article can help me become aware about mathematics in many events of my life. Who would have thought that math had anything to do with music? I really enjoy dancing; however, I never realized that many dancers might use math to simply count steps as they move around. I guess it all makes sense to me know. This shows that math is in fact everywhere!

I found this article to be very interesting because I never thought that dancing invloved Mathematics. I also found it to be very interesting because of the format the teachers created to help students, children and adults, a more comfortable way to learn Math. As a person who has found Mathematics difficult since grade school, I do believe that any new way of teaching Math is worth trying. This article truly exemplifies how Math is used in our everyday lives. I will be sure to remember that next time that I am dancing, I will know that I am doing Math. I also believe that other teachers in grade school should consider this form of teaching, that way more students will become more familiar with Math and not struggle as much.

I remenber when i took salsa lessons in 9th grade, and my salsa instructor use to always say a pattern 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, and repeat it several times until it became automatic. It never struck me that Math was involve after reading and watching the video on how dancing involves mathematics.The patterns and rhythms involve in dancing, is what makes you move in proportion to the beat.Dancing is like adding numbers in your head, it becomes automatic after hearing the beat. Dancing classes has help me have better posture and soccer rhythm and that is why now i am more aware that math is everywhere.

Wow this is truly amazing! Who knew math and dancing were related? I guess it does make sense because when someone is learning dance steps they count along, for instance 1,2,3,4 and so on. I’ve danced for so many years and I never put two and two together. Reading this article made me realize that math is everywhere, even when you least expect it!

I love everything music and dancing that is why I choose the article "Do the Math Dance". I totally agree that dancing is moving your body at the rhythm of the music. While I was reading this article I remember when I took salsa lessons because the way that the teachers use to teach at the beginning is by counting the steps. But in this article they are not learning how to dance using math, they are using the dancing to learn math.

In my opinion I was very shocked to know that math is invloved with dancing.I would have never guessed that the two are combined.When i acually come to think of it,it actually makes sense becasue each beat has a rythmn and beat, with this there are a certain number of beats and steps you have to make while dancing.Even though I dislike math,I can never get rid of it,even while im dancing in a party it will be there without me realizing.Charnele C.

One of the things that I find most fascinating about Math is its ability to be present in 90% of the things in existence. I used to utilize dance, singing, cooking and other activities that I'm passionate about in order to appreciate Math more, because numbers, I confess, aren't my "forte". The rythm of the music, the pace of the dancers and the choreography itself are all elements that have an intrinsic mathematical nature. Without Math in dancing there would be no pace, no rythm, no choreography, thus, there would be no dance at all! Math constitutes the base of every move, step and musical note; it would be a mess otherwise. Because of Math, one of the most beautiful art forms in this world can be made possible.

“Do the Math Dance” is an interesting article informing the audience about music and dancing put together. Math is a subject very unlikely by many students and it can be complicated and stressful at times. It is astonishing how two choreographers calculated a way to put rhythm in problem solving. Counting and the different steps we do while dancing are all mathematically credited for. This is just to show how math is truly everywhere, and it is here for a purpose.

The article on danceing really made me aware of math because it true that everything i'm danceing i alway have a count and it math you count numbers. before reading this article i never thought about math being invovled in danceing but i now no and it makes me really thik everytime i'm daanceing i always have a patteren that i follow and in math you have follow differnt patterns. si i can truely say that this artilce really made me aware to math and how it use in my everyday without even knowing.

This article about math and dancing made even realize more how it’s incredible how we do math without even noticing! Like the article stated “Combining math and dance concepts allows people to experience a physical sensation of the often abstract concepts of math.” Being Hispanic it’s a normal and very often activity to do in a family gathering or with friends to simply dance.. and to place the thought of Math being involved with this activity that is so natural makes me aware of how even in the simplest and natural things we are use to doing, we are using math unconsciously.

Wow! Talk about learning new things. It is amazing how these Professors have learned a way to teach math. I would have never imagined that through dancing you could learn math. All my life I have been surrounded by music and have loved to dance ever since I can remember, I love it! I do it for fun it relaxes me and at the same time one can exercise. In the other hand math is not something I can say I have fun with or relaxes me but the total opposite. But through math dance I will be able to actually say I enjoy doing math. Luciangeli Flores

I didn’t realize that dancing was closely related to math. It’s interesting to know that when someone is dancing they are really doing mathematical equations. I feel that if professors used dance to teach math in the classrooms, they will have a lot more students signing up for their class. After reading this passage I have a slightly more positive outlook about math.

This article was very educational. This article shows me that when you are dancing you are using math. You use math when your counting the steps you are dancing this occurs especially when you’re dancing salsa. To dance salsa you need to count the steps, which are one, 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and then you redo the count throughout the whole dance. So next time you think that math is not used in everyday life your wrong.

Thsi article talks about how dance has to do with math. Basically you need the rythm to it which in a way youi have to think of how amny steps you are taking. Also for example you have bachata you have to know how many steps to each side and also calculate when you will turn in which number of the steps you are going to turn to make it even in the 4 steps to each side. Math is important in dancing because you need to know your steps and the ones of your partner.

Personally, Dance & Math would never have been in the same sentence prior to this article. Math I believed was a mandatory course in the inducation life, however, I've come to realize that math is a part of life. But if one does concentrate carefully, you would realize you count every time you dance. e,g. one, two, three, four, in bachata and in compas and in ballroom dancing.
Reading this article pushed me to read another article abotu math and computer gaming/programing which is another thing i admire in life.

I concluded that one person dancing can use their body to create shape, or they can move across a floor in a particular pattern. also, when you add more dancers, the possible relationships are endless.You can do a movement that takes 3 pulses, then add a movement that takes 2 pulses; you can repeat a 3 pulse pattern 3 times, to make 9 two dancers could dance a 12 count phrase, with one dancer repeating a 3 count movement 4 times, and one repeating a 4 count movement

Whether you believe it or not we use math all the time subconsciously. Math is used every time you share a cookie or hold a book up at an angle. Recently a new form of teaching math began to expand and that’s turning mathematical equations into choreography. This teaching method is a great idea because a lot of students would prefer to work hands on instead of sitting in their desk all day listening to their teacher lecture. When one is having fun whiling learning something new such as math it is easier for one to obtain and maintain the information. I personally wouldn’t mind trying this math dance program out myself because math is something like a foreign language to me at times and I am also a visual learner. Joanna

This article was very interesting. I wouldn't never imagine that dancing involves math. Thinking about math and how it relates to dancing, there many dancing that uses counting such as the Waltz which is dancing in 3's or odd numbers of Salsa, bachata and many more. I was a dancer for two years in hugh school, and each time we are learning a routine we are counting the dance steps by 8. This article has helped me realize that we use math in our everyday lives with even noticing it sometimes.

I believe that this is such an interesting way to teach math! instead of the textbook procedure with homework, and chalkboard exercises, you can learn math from the beat of your feet. you create your own rhythm, therefore you learn at your own pace. Your movements and the number of beats can be transferred from the dancefloor to the classroom. very brilliant and innovative!
